Multi-sensory Approaches to Engaging Your Emerging Reader

Course Overview

In reading, many children in grades K-2 become word callers because they lack the ability to decode and encode unknown words. If we engage children using hands-on activities and a multi-sensory approach to reading, then children will have the ability to learn various phonics skills and apply their phonics knowledge during reading. In order to get children interested in learning we must engage them and find ways to help them retain the various spelling patterns. This course will give you strategies that I use to get my striving readers to become super readers. Children will learn how to decode and spell words by applying these strategies, and with practice and feedback, they’ll learn the fundamental skills they need to become strong readers.

About the Instructor

Hello fellow educators, my name is Candice Williams also known as “The Reading Revolutionary”. I’m a world renowned, award-winning Reading Specialist with 11 years of experience. My passion for literacy comes from pain, because I too once struggled with literacy as an adolescent. On average 50% of children in the United States are reading and writing below grade level, due to the lack of reading foundational skills. My goal is to create engaging learning experiences that will support children in becoming better readers.
